What is two-way SMS?
Two-way SMS is a text conversation. You send a message. The person replies. Both sides of that exchange stay in one thread, on the same number.
One-way is the blast by itself. The send goes out, the report fills in, and a reply either bounces around a phone in someone’s pocket or never gets a real answer. The customer cannot tell the difference between a business that is listening and a billboard that happens to use a text.
What the customer sees
They see a normal thread. The campaign message is in it. Their reply is under it. If someone on your side answers, that answer shows up in the same place, from the same number. They do not get handed to a different inbox, a different code, or an email address they did not ask for.
That only works if the first message gave them something to say. “Reply if you want Thursday” is two-way. “Shop our site” with no question is a flyer. How to write the text starts there.
What your side sees
On Entrance the reply waits in the claims queue with the message that prompted it. Someone takes the thread, or hands it to a person who should answer. A personal campaign skips the shared queue and assigns the replies to the sender.
The same workspace is where a teammate, or an agent pointed at Entrance, can pick up the thread. Opt-outs stay on the account either way. STOP is not a conversation to win back.
What does not change
Two-way still needs consent. A reply from someone who never agreed to the first text is a complaint in progress. Can I text my customers? is the gate. Whether the channel works depends on reading the replies, not only on getting the send out the door.
